Sunday Adventure...

Spencer is in Florida for the Phillies Spring training. This morning, I woke up feeling adventureous so, off we went....

We took the train downtown (Chicago).

went to the Cathedral for Palm Sunday,

and ate lunch at Hard Rock Cafe,

Posed in front of Daddy's favorite Irish Pub
because we missed him!!!

And, then we went to the top of the Sears Tower/Willis Tower,
or as Drew said "Willie's Tower".
On the way home, I asked the boys what their favorite part of the day was....
...someone said "walking in the wind"
(It was seriously windy downtown!!!)
....someone else said "getting new Gogos".
Oh yeah, somehow I forgot to mention that we stopped at WALGREENS!, and I loaned $2 to each of the boys to buy Gogos. I did not imagine that would be a "highlight" of the trip. Otherwise, I would have taken a picture of Walgreens, of course.
Instead, I had to settle a picture of them playing with their new Gogos on the floor of the train station.
Someone else mentioned that their favorite part of the day was "taking pictures" at the top of the Sears Tower".
I probably should have mentioned that I was travelling with the paparazzi. The boys each brought their camera...and about 300 pictures were taken today....all of them flattering, I'm sure.

We missed daddy on our adventure, but really did have a nice day. I'm looking forward to the nice weather and many more adventures for the whole family this summer.

Charlie's Emotions...

In preschool, Charlie's class is learning about emotions. He was cracking us up at dinner the other night by showing us all of his emotions. Thankfully, my kid that doesn't perform was willing to go through it all one more time for the camera. Apparently, there is a song too....I'll have to see if we can get that out of him one of these days. :-)

Enjoy...

Biggest Dummy Ever!!

Do you like my new flowers???

I really like them a lot. I got them as a "hostess gift" from Cathy's Brother and Sister-in-law for the engagement party that we had for Cathy a couple of weeks ago.

I thought they looked so nice on my new kitchen table and went so well with the new paint color in the kitchen. I do not have a great track-record for keeping plants and flowers alive, but I really like these and was determined to keep them alive as long as possible.

I checked them periodically to make sure that they were not drying out. I even watered them several times.

Saturday morning...2 whole weeks after I received the flowers, I took a really close look at them...and realized that htey were FAKE!

OMG, I have been watering fake flowers for 2 weeks. Laugh away....

BTW, the party was really, really fun!!

Makes My Monday...Missing Teeth

Drew
Jack

Aren't they cute?!?!?! I love those toothless grins!!

Drew lost his tooth on Saturday, which resulted in a visit from the tooth fairy Saturday night.

Sunday morning Drew proudly marched into my room with his dollar. I always ask the boys if they happened to "catch" the tooth fairy on the nights that she visits. I was quite surprised when Drew said "I didn't see her, but I felt her."

Huh?

Drew: "Well, I heard someone come in my room, and I thought it was you, Mom. But, then I felt my pillow move like 'this' and I realized IT WAS THE TOOTH FAIRY!!!"

Me: "Did you see her?"

Drew:"No, I didn't look"

Me: "You were awake when the tooth fairy came into your room and YOU DIDN'T LOOK??? Why not??"
Drew: "Well, I didn't 'think she would like it very much if I saw her."

Wow...I can't believe that Drew got that close to meeting the toothfairy and just didn't look. I surely would have peeked!!! I love Drew...maybe I should have taken him a little more seriously when he said that he couldn't think of a sin!

Makes My Monday...Brotherly Love.

Drew wrote this at school a few months ago. I just found it again and *had* to post it.

"Dear Charlie,
I like you a lot! Sometimes at 2nd grade, I
want you to come. Just 1 thing. Don't say,
"What?" every time someone says something. Do
you want to play toys tomorrow? I
love you!
Your brother,
Drew
P.S.
What did you do at Preschool today?"

So sweet!!! And for clarification, when Drew wrote this, Charlie was going through a "WHAT?" stage. He said "what?" to everything that we said. Most of the time he said "what?" before we even finished what we were saying. It was a bit....ummmmm....ANNOYING! So glad he is out of *that* stage, but I'm glad that Drew reminded us!! It's cute now. :-)

Don't forget to check out Twinfatuation's blog, for more "Makes My Monday"'s.

SCORE!!!

As if we didn't have enough toys, this arrived yesterday....

This HUGE set of Geotrax were actually "hand me ups" from Aunt Jen. My super-shopper-sister was planning ahead for her little guys and purchased the set from a friend in our local triplet group (Hi Dayna!!). And, realizing that her guys are still a little young to really enjoy the toys, she immediately dropped them off at our house because she is the "Best Aunt in the World" and knew that Charlie would LOVE them...and would re-hand them back down in a year or so!!

Hmmmmm....how well do you think the "Best Aunt in the World" knows her youngest nephew?!?! I'm thinking he looks pretty happy. Yup, he was really, really happy when he got up at 6:45 this morning to "go play trains in the yiving room".

In case you were worried that poor Liam, Aidan and Connor are getting gipped out of a cool new toy on the day before their 2nd birthday, don't worry, I emptied out Charlie's room of all of our "Little People" stuff. My favorite nephews will soon be the proud owners of an entire community of Little People. And, believe it or not, we had so much Little People stuff that it didn't even fit in the huge rubbermaid boxes that the Geo Trax stuff came in. It is a lot of stuff....look out Birthday Boys!!!

It seems that everyone is quite happy with how this all worked out. Here is the scene after school which included a neighbor kid over on a playdate.

I just wonder if *I'll* ever get my "Yiving room" back. Tell me Dayna, what am I supposed to do with all of this stuff???

I love blogging about technology...

...I'm sure it is something that my kids will get a kick out of in about 30 years. Can you imagine if my mom blogged about the "Speak & Spell" that I got when I was 7, or if 25 years ago, she blogged about the cool windows in her new car that go down by pushing a button.

To give a little history, I decided last summer that I wanted an iphone...really, really wanted an iphone. The problem was that Spencer took a shower with his phone in his pocket the summer before last so, he wrecked his phone and needed a new one, thus extending our Verizon contract to July 31, 2010. Yikes!!! I started a countdown until July 31, 2010 and began waiting.....patiently.

I was even able to use my "patiently waiting" as a lesson for Jack when he was very upset after he decided that he really wanted a Super Mario Baseball game for his Wii and he realized how many weeks he would have to wait to earn enough allowance to be able to buy it. I was totally able to empathize with him and explained to him that I was also "patiently waiting" for something that I really wanted and *I* would have to wait all the way until July! He thought about it and then went and got his brothers to pool their money together and get the game....tomorrow. Doh! So, not fair!!

I continued to wait patiently...all the way until November 6th. The day "Droid" came out. I decided that I waited patiently long enough. I did a lot of research and found out that this new phone was a lot like the iphone and got great reviews. It was "powered by google", which I thought was pretty cool.

So, for the first time in my life, I bought a piece of technology on the day it was released.

It is soooo cool. I have so much fun with it. My emails come right to my phone and it says "DROID" evey time I get a new email...which makes me smile. I get my facebook updates in the carpool line. The GPS is awesome. It runs through Google Maps so, it has the street view option. Imagine my surprise when my cute little phone showed me a picture of the house that I was trying to find, the first time I used it! It also has Google Sky Maps which labels all of the stars that I am looking at and changes as I move the phone in the air. I was even able to scan my stupid "frequent buyer cards" from the grocery stores into my phone so that I don't have to carry the cards anymore. The google calendar in the phone is awesome too and will prevent me from ever being the "worst mom in the world" again.
There you go....the coolest gadget of 2010. Now go ahead and laugh away.....my 32 and 28 year old sons, your old mom can't wait for you to show her how the coolest gadget of 2035 works. ;)

Weekend Window...

Yes, I know it is Tuesday, but this picture is from the weekend, and hopefully, going forward, I will actually post pictures like these over the weekend.

Snowshoe-ing with the Cub Scouts

2/28/10

Ok, lets try that again...

LOL....Ooops.

It's been so long that I guess that I don't even remember how to blog. (If you saw my last post, you will know what I am talking about.)

Anyway, I *really* do miss blogging. I was in such a groove with it, for such a long time and now I struggle to keep it going. I think about this dumb blog every day, and funny things happen, and different topics pop into my head, but at the end of the night, I am just not sitting down and spending the time to post it.

I'm finding that blogging is a bit like exercising. I found it to be kind of addicting when I was really into it My mind started to automatically organize my thoughts and experiences into a format that made it easy and fun for me to spit it out into my blog. I never felt like it was a chore, it was just a fun and a satisfying way to finish the day.

Now, after being away from it, my mind, as well as the rest of me, has gotten lazy. Instead of having an experience and remembering to take that extra picture because it would tie in nicely to my blog post, I am now lucky if I remember to actually bring my camera and am ambitious enough to dig it out of my purse....let alone use up my energy to upload my pictures and actually type a post. Also, since I have not been posting much, I feel a little guilty for not posting about birthdays that have passed, my sweet Valentine's Day and Pinewood Derby wins, not to mention that I'm only 1/2 way done with my "Bloggy Christmas Letter"...oye. :( And, since I haven't posted about any of those things, a "hey, guess what happened to me at Target today", or a "tale from the carpool line" seems mighty inappopriate... even though my random silly posts have always been my favorites to do. ;(

So, bottom line is, once again, I am going to vow to turn over a new leaf with my blog. If you are still around, I really appreciate it. I love, love, love hearing that people enjoy my blog and I really enjoy the comments. Feel free to drop me a note anytime, it will keep me motivated. Although I fully intend to follow through with posting on a regular basis, if you haven't already, you might want to click on "follow me" to my blog and any other blogs that you follow. Then through the igoogle, it will let you know which blogs are updated. It is really cool. I have it set as my homepage, so even though I haven't been blogging, I am still following lots of other blogs. It saves a lot of time to just go to the blogs that are updated, rather than jumping from one dead blog to another.

I think that I might go type my first post of my re-Grand Opening now.... :)

Love ya,

I miss blogging...
