Party Details II

In going along with the last post, I thought it would be interesting to list some of the presents that they received. I know that Spencer and I would enjoy looking at a list of the toys that we got for our 6th birthdays. I'm sure it was full of baseball stuff for him and Barbie stuff for me. Maybe that was the year I got my Donnie and Marie Barbies with the shreaded pink and purple outfits. Then again, maybe I am just a big dork...but here is the list anyway.

***Warning...they got a TON of stuff!!

Outdoor chalk critter footpring maker
Webkinz
Water guns
Baseball swing trainer
Dinosaurs
Stickers and Coloring books

Outdoor Disk Launcher (Daddy and Grandpa enjoyed that one!)

Party Details

I'm posting the birthday party invite list. While this is not very interesting at this time, I'm guessing that my boys will find it very interesting in years to come. Hopefully, we will stay in this neighborhood and the boys will grow up with the kids that they are in kindergarten with now. It might be interesting to see what happens as all of these kindergarten friends grow up. Maybe they invited the future prom queen, or future varsity football quarterback or future juvenille delinquent to their birthday party. Who knows...but, the list probably will embarass them in some way, in a few years. ;)

Six Years Old!!!

What a day!! It is funny, I had so many people come up to me today and tell me that they wondered what a birthday party for 6 year old triplets would look like. Well, here you go...you didn't even have to be there.
The boys celebrated their birthday with their kid's party at an indoor bounce place. Last year, I let them each invite 9 kids from their class and then we invited a few neighbors. We ended up with about 23 kids. This year, I let them each invite 10 from their class and we ended up with 32 kids!!! I was shocked....everyone is apparently free from 1-3 on Wednesday afternoons! Overall, it was a great party. The people at the bounce place did a great job and my only responsibility was to bring a cake and party favors. The party room was a little trashed when 32 kids were finished with it, but there was no permanent damage done and none of the bounce thingies popped. I call that successful. All the kids went home all sugared up, sweaty and with big smiles. The boys really enjoyed playing with all of their friends. As you can imagine, it was difficult to get good pictures, but here are a few.

"Happy Birthday to you..."
Toy Craziness!!!

Dumb it down for us Drew.

Maybe this is common with a lot of 5 (oops 6) year olds, but Drew has a tendency to start talking mid-thought. It's like he assumes that other people are thinking the same thing that he is thinking so, when he starts talking, we should all understand what he is talking about. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but he seems to habe perfected the 'duh!' look that he uses when he has to go back and explain what he is talking about.

For example, as we are crossing the street to go to school this morning, Drew casually says to the crossing guard "Well....ya know.....I'm not going to be six until 10, 27". The crossing guard must hear a lot of strange things from the little kids. She just smiled at him and said "ok, that's great". Then she looked at me like 'what the heck is he talking about!'. I was left to quickly explain to her that today was his birthday and since he was born at 10:27 six years ago, he decided that he would not officially be six until 10:27 this morning. On his way home from school, he was happy to report that he officially turned 6 in music class...his favorite class....what a great day!

My dad once told Drew that he was a very "interesting person". Drew LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that and has told me many times since that day that Grandpa thinks he is such an interesting person! Anyway, my dad is right, Drew is very interesting and always has interesting stuff to say. Sometimes you have to dig a little to figure out what he is talking about, but actually, the crazier it sounds when he first says it, the more interesting it turns out to be. If you don't believe me, ask him why his favorite baseball team is the Cubs.

A big, big, BIG day!!!

Ben, Jack and Drew are turning SIX tomorrow!!! Time really does fly. I'm not going to blog about being all sad that they are not babies any more...mostly because as cute and enjoyable as they were as 1 year olds, and 2 year olds, and on and on, I totally love and enjoy the little boys that they are today. These are the fun times. They are still mostly carefree little people that see the world as a great and really fun place! Watching them grow up is better than I could have imagined.

So, although I don't wish for them to be babies any more, I do love looking back at their pictures and definitely wouldn't pass up the opportunity to go back to each of the years for one more hug or snuggle. They were all good years.

Ben, Jack & Drew ~4 Years Old

Jack, Ben & Drew turning 5!

Ok...seriously....

I don't like to blog about the weather too much because I don't think that it will be interesting to anyone....especially me when I am reading this in 20 years, but I can't help myself today.

Weather.com says that it is now 48 degrees, but feels like 42. It is NOON and May 27th!!! It is absolutely horrible outside. Yesterday, people were going to the pool. We even had to turn on the air conditioning last night because it was so hot for sleeping. This morning, I flipped the thermostat right from the air conditioning to the heater. I wore my winter coat when we walked to school and I froze. My hands were numb when I got home. Needless to say, I drove to pick the boys up.

I'm trying to see the bright side of this miserable weather, but I'm struggling. I've come up with 2 positives, but they are weak.

1. I could leave the groceries in the garage when I went to pick the boys up from school because nothing was going to spoil.

2. Maybe this is killing any mosquitos that were getting ready to come out.

Can anybody come up with any more to help us all feel better?

Happy Memorial Day!

Bring out the white pants and sandals, it is the non-official start of summer!!! YAY!!! We've been waiting a long time for summer!! Unfortunately, tomorrow we are expecting a high of 55 degrees. We did enjoy a great day today in the nice weather. We had a barbeque at my mom and dad's house with all of the grandparents. Not a bad way to spend a Monday.

The boys looked very cute today and I was hoping to get a good picture of all of them. I was disappointed to not get that perfect picture! Here are the rejects, I'm sure that I'll like them better as time goes on. But right now, all I see are boys that are not looking at the camera, or looking bored, they turned out too bright and the poses look dorky. Maybe I need a better camera. ;)

Drew is Star Student...FINALLY!!!

Drew and his teacher 01/08

After patiently waiting for all of the other kids in his class to be "Star Student", Drew finally had his turn to be the shining star. How appropriate that Drew was star student the same day as the letter parade and letter party. Sooooo Drew!!

Drew did a wonderful job being "Star Student". He sat up in the front of his class and read the story "Matthew A.B.C.". The story was very cute and had some funny parts. His classmates were really into it so, he loved that! He started reading the story pretty quietly, but his friends were enjoying it so much, he soon became comfortable and even started to give them advance notice when a "funny part" was coming up. After the story, he went through his list of "favorites" and told his classmates about all of the pictures that he brought. All 19 pictures!!! Finally, after he was finished, his friends spent a few minutes asking him questions. It was fun to see Drew sooooo excited about being Star Student and he seemed very relaxed with his friends. Definitely another proud mom day for me!!

Here are some of his favorites:

Ice cream Flavor: Chocolate

Movie: Jungle Book

TV Show: All Grown Up (the funny part is that he can't say the title without singing/shouting it like the theme song for the show...very cute!)

Pet: A Dog

Proudest Accomplishment: Riding his 2 wheeled scooter, with one foot up in the air

Happiest when: He's with mom (awwww!)

Favorite Food: Cheerios (always has been, in fact it used to be the only food that he would eat!!)

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Baseball Team: Chicago Cubs!

Favorite Number: 2

A classmate asked Drew which brother was his favorite...uh oh...He thought for a long time and then said he wasn't sure....whew!!

Here are the pictures that Drew chose to show his friends. He picked a lot of pictures and had a good time showing his friends and telling them all about his life. Way to go Drew!!!

The Finished Product

The Kindergarten Letter Parade was a huge success. Because it was 50 degrees and drizzly (only in Chicago...grrr), they had the parade in the school gym, but the boys, and all of the kids, looked great!!

Hard at Work!!

The kindergarten is having a "Letter Parade" tomorrow. It sounds like it is going to be very cute...the kids were supposed to pick their *favorite* letter and dress up in some way using that letter. The boys each picked their first initial and decided that they wanted to dress up like Letter People that are on display in their classrooms.

Drew said he picked "A" because it is the first letter of the alphabet, NOT because it is the first letter in his name. How perfect is this day going to be for Drew?!?!?!? A celebration of LETTERS!! As he would say "I LOVE the alphabet!!!" Here is a picture of Drew's design for his "costume". He is going to be Mr. Achoo.

Jack is going to be Mr. Jingles. People will surely hear him coming!! Here is a picture of the plan for his "costume".

And finally, Ben is going to be Mr. Beautiful Buttons. Here is his design.

Here are some pictures of the boys hard at work on their costumes. I'll post some pictures of the finished product tomorrow....I've got to go sew some jingle bells on now. :)
