Here comes trouble...

We went to the local high school football game last night. As we were walking in, the Greeter Lady at the gate to the stadium said (directly to US!) "Welcome to the Home of the Mustangs...please control YOUR children!!"


What's with that?!?! I bet that mean lady was a mom of all sissy girls. Grrr.....Boys can be sweet and well behaved too. Blah!

All Good Stuff Here!!

After months going by of not checking, I worked up enough courage to take a peek at the "site tracker" on my blog. Site tracker is a widget, or whatever you call it, that is on the side bar of my blog. It tracks information about visits to my blog. Really it doesn't tell me very much...how many people have reached my blog, how they found my it, how much time they spent here. Pretty basic stuff. I like it for the feature that tells me how many "hits" I get. A couple of years ago, when I was really really good about blogging, I would usually get about 50-60 hits a day...which was a nice boost to my ego.

So, I have been avoiding clicking on my site tracker because it makes me sad to think about how I have let down all of my loyal readers. Since I have managed to throw together 2 new posts, with pictures, over the last 2 days (Woohoo!!), I thought that it was time to see how sad my numbers actually were.

Imagine my surprise when I clicked on the box and discovered that I already had 52 hits today!!! I was soooo excited that my peeps were still here and paitently waiting for another exciting edition of "Outnumbered Mommy". WooHoo, I was feeling soooo loved and "cool"!! I know, I'm a complete dork.

Well, it turns out that it is not a joke and I really am a complete dork. After a bit of digging, I discovered that most of my hits came from a Google Search for "outnumbered mommy". But, they weren't really looking for me, they were looking for some goof-ball blogger that steals material from other Mom Blogs and goes by the name "Mom Outnumbered". Mom Outnumbered got busted and the real blogging moms are mad, mad, mad. They are now tracking her down and letting her have it...kinda ugly. Fortunately, although some got misdirected to my blog, I guess it was obvious that my material was definitely not stolen material. Should I be insulted???

Now, I guess that I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if I'll be able to count my remaining peeps on one hand or two. ;-(

Meanwhile, for your reading pleasure, while doing my research about that CRAZY Mom Outnumbered, I found a listing of "Google Searches" that have brought other people to *my* site. It is crazy...I wonder if any of these people stuck around. How did *you* find me???

Biggest Dummy Ever!!

I really like them a lot. I got them as a "hostess gift" from Cathy's Brother and Sister-in-law for the engagement party that we had for Cathy a couple of weeks ago.


I thought they looked so nice on my new kitchen table and went so well with the new paint color in the kitchen. I do not have a great track-record for keeping plants and flowers alive, but I really like these and was determined to keep them alive as long as possible.


I checked them periodically to make sure that they were not drying out. I even watered them several times.


Saturday morning...2 whole weeks after I received the flowers, I took a really close look at them...and realized that htey were FAKE!


OMG, I have been watering fake flowers for 2 weeks. Laugh away....


BTW, the party was really, really fun!!

Who caused more damage...

Spencer was all worried that we would not have time to clean the basement before our party... which we did. I guess that it turns out that we really shouldn't have worried about it. :)

Here is what happened...while we were on vacation, the little mouse made a feast out of the rubber piping the carries the water into the dishwasher. I know YUCK! But, the bigger problem is that the first time I ran the dishwasher, I was in a hurry to get to church. I started it up and then ran out the door without turning back. I was quite surprised to find a pond in my kitchen when we got home an hour later. The water never made it into the dishwasher, but rather poured out all over the floor. Not good...not good at all! In addition to having a broken dishwasher, we ended up with warped hardwood floors in the kitchen. One of my Facebook friends said that the mouse was probably really mad about being left at home while we went to visit his cousin Mickey. ;)

Luckily, my handy husband (and his little helper) completed their first plumbing job that did not end up with me being short one piece of Tupperware. :) And, my diswasher is functional again. Unfortunately, my handy husband doesn't do hardwood floors.

Here's to a less destructive 2010!! Woo Hoo!!

Cops ROCK...politicians...not so much

Even after having to deal the hateful and arrogant professor, being called stupid by the president, and having the liberal media and civil rights groups desperately trying to find something to destroy him, this cop still has class....something most politicians lack.

Another blog that I follow had a sad post the other day about crime problems in her neighborhood. Here is the link to it if you are interested. It's just shows that it is so easy for the politicians to continually criticize the police and think of ways to make it harder for them to do their job....kind of like hiring the best nanny in the world for a bunch of brats and then telling the nanny that she can't put the brats in timeout, or tell them "no", or discipline them at all. Good luck with that!! It is so easy for those of us that are fortunate enough to live in "safe" neighborhoods to go along with the politicians because in 2009, being politically correct and liberal is cooler than making hard decisions and solving real problems. I'm thinking that the political correctness goes out the window when they start shooting on *your* block.

Cops ROCK and clueless politicians, as well as the rest of society, should show them the respect that we owe them!!

I don't hate Oprah!!!

It has come to my attention that I need to clarify my feelings about Oprah.

If you haven't been reading my blog for very long, you probably missed that several months ago, I had a little quote about Oprah on my sidebar. It said something to the effect that "I can vote without Oprah's help...thank you."

Since then, whenever Oprah comes up in a coversation with someone that reads my blog, they immediately say "well, I know that you hate Oprah, but...".

Ok, here is the thing...I don't *hate* Oprah.

Oprah is a wonderful person. I have so much respect for her because she seems to genuinely want to help people and do the right thing. There are just not that many people like that in the world. I really believe that this world would be a lot better off if we had more "Oprahs" in it.

Obviously, I disagreed with Oprah's choice for who to vote for in the most recent election. So, of course, I was really bummed that she chose to use her show to influence her fans to help *her* guy win. But, really, who wouldn't? I know that if I had a cool show and the ability to influence millions of people, I would totally do it. But, duh, I wanted the other guy to win...of course it didn't make me happy that she was using her show to persuade her "followers" to vote against my guy. I "get it", but I don't like it.

So, there you go, that's the whole story. I love Oprah...I'm just a little mad at her so, I'm pouting a bit by deleting her from my Tivo for a little while. Just kidding Oprah...keep up the good work, just pick a different candidate next time. ;)

Octomom...

So, what do I think about the octomom???

Besides OUCH!!

Obviously, the woman is a self-centered nut-job. How's that?


I actually haven't been following the stories too closely, haven't seen any of her interviews and actually care very little about the actual family. Of course, I hope and pray that those beautiful babies are healthy and well taken care of and I find it heartbreaking that those 14 children are growing up without a father and with a lousy excuse for a mother.


Although I couldn't bring myself to actually watch any of the interviews with this woman, or other members of her family, I've been very interested in reading and watching the editorials and hearing/reading what other people are saying *about* them. Everyone is so outraged and I'm trying to figure out why...specifically. Of course, I am also outraged, but I'm outraged about a lot of things that don't seem to phase everyone else. So, what do you think it is, specifically, about this crazy woman that has everyone so upset.


Hmmm....is it the fertility treatments, or all of the other crazy (no father, no income, 14 kids) stuff?

I have so many thoughts and opinions about this mom that I don't even know where to begin. I actually find myself a little happy that people *are* outraged. It is good for people to get mad and maybe that will cause people to want to make things better. Our society is so screwed up. Apparently, we are financially bankrupt, but in addition to that, we are also morally bankrupt. Our priorities are all out of whack and we are breeding lazy, greedy, selfish, ignorant people. This Octomom whack-job is the product of our society...our laws and programs create people like her. She, as well as millions of other people, feel entitled to their every whim and it is hurting them as well as all of the rest of us.


Now that I've got that out of the way, who wants to talk about the infertility aspect of this???? I've got lots of opinions about that too. Want to know what I think??? I'd love to know what *you* think....seriously, I wouldn't be offended. ;)

Easier???

I was in Meijer one day a few years ago. The boys had just turned 4 and I was 8+ months pregnant with Charlie. Since it was "summer vacation", everyone had to come with me to do our weekly grocery shopping. Got the visual?? Not pretty.

The boys were good, but at a tough age for grocery shopping. They were too big to ride in the cart, but too little to understand that other people need to shop and they can't take up the whole aisle. And, they still to required A LOT! of reminders about not touching. Basically, it was a big preggo me, pushing a huge cart full of food saying "don't touch" and "move out of the way" about a million times.

Needless to say, we survived. By the time we got to the cashier, I felt like I had accomplished a pretty big task and was feeling pretty proud of myself. The cashier was very nice and started talking to me. Of course, she asked if the boys were triplets and then commented about how well they were behaving.

The lady behind me in line was listening and jumped right in and responded to the cashier..."well, ya know, having triplets is easier than having one baby".

Me (dumbfounded, obviously, this lady did not come across us while we were actually shopping) - "uuuuuhhhhhh....excuse me?"

The crazy lady: "yeah, that's right, because my brother's sister-in-law's uncle's grandson's next door neighbor (or something like that) has triplets and....they said that once they are 6 months old, they start entertaining themselves. Where as if you only have one baby, the parent has to play with it."

So, there you go folks, the secret about having triplets is finally out. I guess that I'll go grab my last Pepsi and my bag of sweedish fish now and watch my 6 year olds entertain themselves until I have to drag myself off the couch to make dinner.

I very much dislike politicians...

They are all rotten, arrogant crooks.

Random Thoughts (well, more like rants)....

I wonder if Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan are going to be cell mates. Wouldn't that be cool to have our last and current governors, of the state of Illinois, locked up together. I'm so proud of this state and the politicians that we produce. NOT!

There was a lady in the carpool line that is Hello Kitty crazy. In addition to a bunch of "Hello Kitty" novelty decorations, she had on a pink coat, had a pink fuzzy steering wheel and a pink fuzzy cover over her seat. And, it was a regular Honda Odyssey minivan. What a nut. Spencer would kill me if I did that to my van. Hmmm....it would be one way to make my car all MINE! Totally not worth it though.

I was in the post office last week and the employee that was "assisting" me at the counter was "in training". I don't mind (usually) when I get someone in-training. Charlie and I don't go anywhere too fast so, I don't mind waiting a little bit extra while someone learns a new job. Here was my problem though....the lady didn't know how to type.... AT ALL!!!! It was not just that she was a slow hunt & peck typist....no, ummm, she, like, couldn't find the letters on the keyboard. At one point, she turned around to the person training her and said that she just couldn't find "Y".


OMG! I want to know how, in such a horrible economy, with so many people out of work, the USPS hires a lady that can't find "Y" on the keyboard. And, if you did not have a job, and wanted a job that required a bit of typing, wouldn't you FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE KEYBOARD!!! My 6 year olds, and quite possibly my 2 year old, could find "Y" on the keyboard faster than this woman that is getting paid to type things into the computer. What a joke!

And finally, my last "rant" brings us back to the car pool line at school. Is it obvious that I spend a lot of time in the car pool line?

Anyway, it amazes me every day just how stupid people are. It is unbelieveable. The car pool drop-off line is set up so that a entire row of about 12 cars can empty their kids out at the same time. After those 12, or so, cars empty, they leave and the next 12 come in and do the same thing. It should work really well. There are a lot of teachers out there every morning to direct cars and keep the kids safe.

The problem is that the car spot that is closest to the door of the school is in the middle of the line. That shouldn't really be a problem, but it blows my mind, the number of people that refuse to drop off their "prince" or "princess" at a spot, other than, the closest spot to the door of the school.

First off, it is totally rude and results in a line that moves much slower than it really should...especially on really cold, or rainy days. But the part that really blows my mind is that these parents are completely disregarding the teachers (their children's own teachers!) that are frantically waving in their windshield to get them to move their car forward. What kind of dummy sends their kid to school with the message of "you don't really need to listen to your teacher, just do what is best for you!". Unbelievable!

So, after posting the last post, I went back to the stupid rating site and, for fun (NOT!), I ran some other blogs. This is my sister's blog rating.

Give me a break! She's got a very nice blog, but genius level?, when I am high school level?. I'm crushed. I introduced her to the blogging world and now she is killing me at it! I'm never going to get over this competitiveness with my sister, am I? Grrrrr....and I was having such a good day.

Genius??? Seriously???

I just can't help myself now....

So, by the time I went to bed last night 75 people came to my blog to see what I had to say about the election. Well, it was probably closer to 70. The other 5 people were just me (5 times) to see how many people were checking my blog. :)

I guess I'll tell you what I think. And, I'd love to hear what you think. Not stuff copy and pasted from the internet, but what *you* really think about the election and what is going on in our country. You know what I mean, original thoughts coming straight from your brain.

This is a family blog and a history for my kids. So although this isn't really directly related to my family, I think it would be interesting for them to know what I was thinking (and you all too) during the time of this "historical" election. Wouldn't it be cool to know what your parents were thinking when they voted for, or against, JFK. It is impossible to debate those issues now, especially considering the fate of JFK, but wouldn't it be interesting to know what people that you respect were thinking about him when the election took place in 1960?

Here goes. I spent the day yesterday trying to get in-tune and understand the excitement of the Obama supporters. I recognize it is more than "yay, we won". I remember being very happy when Bush was announced the winner over Gore 8 years ago. But, that was more of a "whew, I'm so relieved" sort of happiness rather than a "yay, I'm so excited about what this guy is going to do for our country!!". So, can you Obama supporters enlighten me about what all of the excitement is about? I'm looking for something more substantial than you are just happy to get Bush out, or that history is being made because an African-American is going to be president. I also need more than he is going to bring us "change"....*what* is going to "change??? I want to get excited about the future of this country too! I'm ready to forget about the election, change gears and get excited about how this "man of change" is going to improve our country.

One of my friends (a Democrat!!) emailed me yesterday. Her and I have gone back and forth several times about this election. She has been a good person for me to bounce ideas off of because we lead similar lives, but our political views are completely different. When I have a hard time understanding how anyone can agree with, or accept some of the crazy things with the Democrats, or Obama, she and a few of my other Democrat friends (can you believe I have more than 1!!!) at least were able to give me some insight into how they are able to agree with it, or at least reconcile it in their minds.

So, the email that I received from her yesterday was questioning me about a few things that I have said in my blog. I thought I would post my thoughts here instead of in an email to her so that I can better explain myself to anyone else that is interested.

"I read your blog and I get what you're saying about people who do not know about the issues voting. Yes, it would be nice if every voter was knowledge about all the issues. but I can't help but think how Obama's "Get Out the Vote" efforts were really no different than Rove's efforts in 2004 in Ohio w/the Evangelical Christians who were told to vote for Bush."

I wasn't specifically criticizing Obama with my statement that stupid, un-informed people shouldn't vote. Stupid white people that are only voting for McCain because Obama is black shouldn't vote either, IMO. But, really, my statement was really out of frustration that I don't think that physically going to vote is being Patriotic. Sure, it is great to celebrate that we live in the best country in the world and we can vote for our leaders. But, if you are un-informed, wear red, white and blue and march in a parade on election day. Voting is a responsibility that should be taken seriously. If you are not informed, even about the most basic of issues and the positions of the candidates, follow the example of our president-elect and vote "present". :)

"Clinton may have been morally bankrupt, but he did leave office with a budget surplus. yet, 8 years of Bush, we have a gazillion $ deficit. It's just been bugging me that the not one of you seem to be bothered by that. how do you reconcile that w/your "fiscally conservative" values? and that Republicans weren't acknowledging Bush/Chaney's role in this mess. I know McCain said "I'm not George Bush" but how can Republicans not admit THEIR administration was in power for the last 8 years!?!?!?!?!"

I think this is my biggest gripe with the media coverage. Why is it so difficult to get to the bottom of this? Let's see some finger-pointing with facts behind it. I'm guessing neither side wants to point fingers because they are greedy, crooked politicians that ALL have their hands in the cookie jar.

But, here is my take.

I don't know how the everyone else reconciles this, but I will tell you how I do. Now remember, I've spent the majority of the last 8 years sorta absorbed with my own life so, if you disagree with my understanding, let me know, I'm interested. I'm not trying to mislead, only explain my thoughts.

I think the biggest causes of the problems that we are having with our economy is the tanking of the housing market and the personal spending habits of the people in this country. I do believe that the sub-prime lending fiasco caused the housing problems that we are experiencing now. Representatives from the government (I'll refer to them as Democrats) forced the banks to approve mortgages for low-income people that could not afford the mortgages. The banks thought it was great because the mortgages were insured by the government, so they were making money for writing the mortgages, but not taking on the risk. The politicians thought it was great because they could go back to their constituents and talk about how home-ownership is at an all time high! The builders and realtors and homeowners were happy because everyone was making money. It was all great until it came time to pay the bills. Yeah, now we are all kind of screwed, aren't we? What made things even better is that it was not just the low-income people that were taking advantage of this screwed up way to approve mortgages. Upper-income people were doing the same things. Hey, instead of buying a $500,000 house, how about a $650,000 house with an "cheap" adjustable rate mortgage, and then instead of paying the mortgage, let's pay less then even the interest that accrues because the value of the house is going up and we'd really like to drive a new XL-SUV. Great! The bank will approve it no problem! Home values went up artificially because so many people were buying houses that they couldn't afford. This is a market correction, but it sucks. Especially for the people that did buy houses that they could afford, with a real down payment, that is now gone because of the market values.

Yeah, I'm mad at the Republicans. Why didn't anyone stop this or at least start shouting that something is gonna blow!?!?! As someone that is fiscally conservative, I can continue to vote for the Republicans, in good conscious because I don't think they caused this mess. They did not do much to stop it, but they were not the "brains" behind it.

Honestly, I think the American people should blame themselves for the economy being in the toilet. Americans, as a whole, don't know the difference between "a want" and "a need". And, our sense of entitlement is sickening. Being an American does not entitle a person to fancy clothes; big, new cars; satellite tv, vacations and dinners out. Those things should be enjoyed and appreciated after the monthly bills for the mortgage, insurance and education are paid. Until we get those things worked out and start living within our means, as a country, we've got some huge problems. And, no president can fix it, even one is great as I'm told Obama is going to be!

Ok, I've really got to get some real things done around my house now. Thoughts...

I've had 68 hits to my blog today, so far, and it is only 8:30! Usually I get about 40 or 45 hits max for the whole day. I was just wondering why I had so many hits today. I don't think it was to see my great pictures from the zoo, or the really cute video of Charlie counting the goats.

I'm just hoping that you all didn't come here to laugh at me for my guy losing the election.

Election Day thoughts....

• The interview with Will.I.Am by HOLOGRAM!, on CNN, is really stupid!! They are trying to talk serious, but it totally looks like Luke Skywalker talking to ObiWan Kanobi (sp?).
• Should't you have to show an ID to vote? I just walked up, told them my name and my address and signed a piece of paper. This is Chicago....we cheat in Chicago!! The crazy lady at Home Depot asked for my id when I charged $8 worth of dirt on my credit card, but I can walk in and vote without even bringing in my purse.
• If Indiana turns out to be a red state, I won't ever complain about how the Hoosiers drive...ever again. Even when they are driving 50mph in the left lane on the Borman Expressway....they've got my respect and I'll wait.

I hate to lose...

...but, I'm going to vote tomorrow anyway.

I'm dragging my card carrying, pro-life!, conservative-republican self to the polling place with all 4 of my munchkins to cast a vote for RED, in this bright blue state that is Illinois.

After coasting through the last couple of elections with only slightly getting caught up in the hoopla, I feel like I spent a lot of time reading, thinking and talking about this election, the issues, and the candidates. I must admit that I am much more dis-enchanted with the politicians, the news media and the voters than I ever expected.

This country should really be ashamed.

We are supposed to be the leaders of the world and this is the best we could do! UGH! Neither of the candidates will provide a plan for running this country that can be analyzed, discussed and debated. The voters are all caught up in boosting their own egos and talking about what silly, inconsequential thing the other candidate said or did. And, can I just say that I am sick to death of everyone saying to "just vote". Hey, if you are stupid, and don't have a clue about anything that is going on in the world....DON'T VOTE!! I know that I am opinionated, and like to be right, a lot!, but seriously, I really don't have a problem with people that have an opinion that is different than mine voting for blue. But, dumb, un-informed people just should not vote. Political groups take advantage of stupid people...Stupid people should stand up to these groups and just not vote...let the people that are paying attention to the happenings of the country sort it all out! LOL....how do you like that thinking...you can almost hear "God Bless America" playing in the background can't ya? :) And finally, the media, ahhh, the media is an absolute, friggin' joke. I mean seriously, we are in the middle of a huge financial meltdown and our news has spent hours upon hours reporting on the cost of the candidates clothes and whether Sarah Palin was breaking ethics rules by pressuring someone to fire her ex-brother-in-law for tazering his 11 year old step-son! Seriously, fire the moron cop with the tazer gun already and lets move on and talk about the *real* reasons that our economy is in the toilet, what is going on with the war, why we owe billions of dollars to CHINA! and why that is sooooo not good! How about some real news!!

I've been considering doing a political post for some time. This is hard for me....my personality is not one to make "trouble" and I tend to avoid conflict. For whatever reason, I have noticed that lately, my tendancy to avoid conflict has dimished a bit....oops...oh well. :) So, my new trouble-maker personality trait combined with my frustration over the current state of our country and this damn election is making this post a must....if I don't post it, my head may burst.

Well, after staring at the computer screen for hours, and typing...and deleting....and typing some more, I'm chickening out.

At least my head shouldn't explode because I got most of it out. I just saved it as a draft. ;)

I've decided to sleep on it and decide if I want to post it tomorrow. It's very long...and boring, but we'll see. Maybe I'll break it into topics. What do you want first, the economy?, abortion?, the war? I've got opinions about all of it. :)
