This is one of Jen's favorite stories. I've been meaning to blog about it for a while.
A few years ago, the boys and I took a trip into the city to visit Jen. It was a nice summer day so, we took some sidewalk chalk outside to play. I'm sure the boys and I drew the typical Elmo and Ernie, as well as a bunch of farm animals. Jen, on the other hand, drew a pretty heart with a big J + C inside it....get it...(Jen + Craig)...she was kind of a newlywed. ;)
Anyway, the boys had recently turned 4....
Jack took a second from his own chalk "masterpiece" to see what Jen had drawn. He took one look at her picture and said "M" and then went back to what he was doing.
Jen and I looked at eachother like "huh?".
Now, I know Jack. And, I know that when Jack says something like that, there is some thinking going on in that little head of his. It finally occurred to me that he had given numberic values to "J" and "C", added them together, and then converted the result back to the letter "M"....all in like 2 seconds.
Crazy.
Have I mentioned that Jack really, really likes math?!?!?!
