On a Mission....

...for school supplies!!!

Every year before school gets out, they send home a list of school supplies that the kids need to bring on the first day of the next school year. For families that don't want to bother shopping for all of the supplies, the PTA has put together a deal with Target. For a price, you can buy a box, with all of the required school supplies, that will be at school to greet your child on the first day.

Now, I can't remember what the price of the box was and I really wish that I did remember. What I do remember is that when the letter came home, I thought that although I think it is nice that they offer it, there is no way that *I* was going to pay that much x3 for school supplies. I'm thinking it was something like $40/kid. If you know, please (please, please) tell me, this would be great info to pass along to the boss (Spencer).

So, it is now August and time to get busy on this list.

Here is a list of....well.....the list. And, I did hit some sales today so, what I have paid is next to the item is listed in red:

3 round nose scissors................. $1.50

3 boxes of 24 crayons

24 sharpened pencils....................$.27

3 pink erasers

30 glue sticks

3 boxes of markers............................$2.67

3 school supplies boxes (8"x5"x2")..................$2.37

9 wide-ruled spiral notebooks

18 folders (3 red, 3 orange, 3 yellow, 3 green, 3 blue and 3 purple...won't that be pretty) ...................$3.71

3 boxes of baby wipes

3 boxes of tissues...................$-.90

3 boxes of gallon zip-lock bags

3 socks (gently used is ok....ummm...YUCK!!) ...............FREE!!

3 art smocks .........................FREE...old shirts!

3 book bags ..................................Free....ummm...using last years!!

3 pairs of gym shoes .................... I think we're good with shoes

Wish me luck on finishing the list with $$ to spare!!

I'm pretty sure that our box from school would have cost $40 each too. Tell "the boss" that Mishelle said you "did good!"

WE have had similar "boxes" done by the pta. I actaully thought it was worth the $40. By the time you run around (how much is a gallon of gas?) to all the great sales and I never just buy exactly what is on the list---You are probably good at that part. This year was easy middleschoolers don't need crayons colored pencils and markers, but binders are not just $.29-79. Keep us posted on the totals

LOL Tasha! It may be worth $40, but is it worth $40x3? I think I would have done it for 1, but writing the check for $120 seemed too painful with knowing the sales were coming in August. Now I can stock up on my home stuff too. I just need a sale on glue sticks...we go through a lot of those!!
